Public records are not always accurate. Sometimes it takes multiple sources to determine an
individual’s correct lineage. The Irish tended to use the same given names from one generation to
the next, which sometimes made this difficult. They’re also famous for using middle names as
first names and changing their given names and surnames without providing supporting
